The Buffini Chao Deck is a stunning events venue located on the roof of the iconic National Theatre, on the South Bank of the Thames. Ideal for conferences, drinks receptions, weddings, summer and Christmas parties, private dining and everything in between.

Offering breath-taking panoramic views across London, the venue combines a wrap-around outdoor riverside terrace with a large flexible event space.

Our state-of-the-art lighting and AV have been designed and installed by the National Theatre’s Sound & Video and Lighting departments, providing an inspiring setting for your next conference, training course or product launch. Standard furniture is included – if you have bespoke requirements, please let our team know.

Make your day one to remember with a range of live entertainment options, courtesy of Blank Canvas Entertainment. Hire a string quartet to walk you down the aisle, a magician to entertain guests during the drinks reception or a photobooth for long-lasting memories of the night.

We offer several food and drink options for your big day. From canapés and bowl food, courtesy of our in-house team, to street food from KERB traders and Modern British dishes at Lasdun, your day is bound to be filled with delicious dining.

Loop system

For people using hearing aids with a T-setting, a loop system operates in the Buffini Chao Deck.

Wheelchair access

• The main riverside entrance of the National Theatre has automatic sliding doors on both sides of the entrance lobby, with a levelled entrance carpet matwell. The floor of the pavilion is made of engineered brick, leading to the four main lifts.
• As you arrive out of the lifts onto level three, where the Buffini Chao Deck is situated, it is carpeted.
• A shallow, paved ramp takes you to the Buffini Chao Deck terrace, which is made of a composite decking floor finish, that surrounds the space.
• The door widths are as follows:
  • Stalls to Balcony: 105cm
  • Fire Exit Gate: 102cm
  • Deck Entrance Door: 108cm
• Automatic button operated doors lead into the main space, which has a hardwood floor.
• The Buffini Chao Deck is wheelchair accessible but the number of wheelchair users who can be accommodated can sometimes be limited. Please check with the sales team when enquiring about making a booking.
• There is an accessible toilet in the Buffini Chao Deck.
• There is free parking in the National Theatre car park for Blue Badge holders attending an event at the Buffini Chao Deck. The car park is under the National Theatre and there is ramp access to the lifts in the basement.
